The Quiet Aristocracy
Becoming Noble's focus in 2026
Many family leaders reached out to me after reading Leaving a Legacy. Their messages shared a common refrain: the book put words to beliefs which they held but couldn’t express.
The lack of common expression and acceptance of these ideas — that the foundation of civilization is the continuous family, that inheritance is a powerful good in the hands of virtuous heirs, and that we must revive our capacity for multi-generational great works — has resulted in an isolation problem.
The families who have contacted me are attempting to live out their dominion mandates, but their efforts are limited without communion with likeminded families. The book gave them confidence and clarity in pursuing actions which they knew to be righteous, but this alone is insufficient.
Two things are now necessary.
The first is expanded guidance. Leaving a Legacy presents how and why to form a dynasty. Families who achieve this will discover that they have emerged into a subtle but complex landscape in which they will find new allies and adversaries.
I call these families out in the wilderness who choose to pursue the good, the beautiful, and the true the quiet aristocracy.
In their quest to dominate space, pursue uncompromising moral visions, build local power, discern righteous causes, and raise uncommon children, they face challenges in the form of hostile organizations, an interventionist state, societal entropy and inertia, and self-doubt.
Overcoming these challenges requires moral clarity, strategic action, manipulating perceptions, and forming supportive networks. The focus of the blog this year will be on providing analysis on these subjects, drawing on history, theology, and the personal experience of the families I am now in contact with.
The second necessary effort on my part is intentional network formation. This allows participants to learn directly from each other — which I believe will be powerful because many readers are leading experts in domains like law, politics, and infrastructure development — and eventually to meet each other and collaborate in physical space.
At the end of the book I included the following:
If you are interested in joining a private network of successful families who live the principles described in this book, please register your interest with a note to johann@johannkurtz.com.
This community exists to provide professional guidance and peer support on subjects like:
Building physical estates which are financially robust and desirable across generations;
Investing in art, whether historic or newly commissioned;
Producing elegant events and cultural experiences to introduce children to peers across aligned families;
Knowledge and experience sharing regarding faith and charity endeavours;
Co-operation and investment in long-term business ventures.
I am pleased to say that these has been strong interest in such a network and building it will be my main professional focus for the year.
There will be a membership fee in order to support due diligence of applicants (as care must be taken whenever family is involved), the establishment of secure infrastructure, the fees for weekly expert guest speakers, as well as events and other expenses.
The content will not be any more controversial than that contained within the book, to ensure members will not accrue any reputational risk. The quality of the people who have reached out so far has been exceptional, so the mere act of connecting them together will yield tremendous value.
I intend on emphasizing a chapter-based approach, where I will prioritize sequentially forming groups for each state and country, rather than randomly dispersed globally, to facilitate from the start the potential for local collaboration. Where possible, I will travel to meet the members of newly established chapters in person.
I will be actively evangelizing the network at events, and members can request I reach out to specific people of interest to see if they’d be interested in joining.
My working title is ‘The Hancock Club’.
If you’d like to register your interest to be contacted once things are up and running, either reply to this email or send a note to johann@johannkurtz.com, ideally with some brief biographic detail to let me know where you are so I can get a sense of which regions are well suited to serve as opening chapters.
I will also send an email around on the official launch day. The United States and Europe are currently my priorities, but if you’re outside these regions please do get in touch anyway, and if I observe a critical mass in an area I will invest accordingly.
Stay tuned for some exciting essays on this theme of the dynamics of the quiet aristocracy. Those in the works include:
Belief and the mastery of space
The world behind the world
Wealth vs. power
Primogeniture and fertility
Reviving an honor culture
Why do elites convert?
And many more. As always, these will be a mix of philosophy, theology, and history. Leave a comment if you want to see a specific theme covered.
Go out and dominate 2026. Happy New Year!
Sic transit imperium,
Johann

I really like and admire where you're taking this and best of luck. I'm also curious, do you see a place in the culture you're building for those who do not have families? I realize that's your focus, after your book came out, but in terms of mapping out new ways of organizing society all must be taken into account. Is that beyond the scope you've set?
Is there a chapter in Budapest, Hungary? I'd be interested, but I'm nothing more than a simple, broke fiction writer trying to scrape by with two kids.
Looking forward to reading the book in the new year. The reception seems to have been great. Haven't had the time yet, but it's been on my radar, certainly.
Looking forward to your writings in 2026! Cheers and Happy New Year! (:
